Recruitment Evening - Wednesday 12th March at 8pm
We're holding a 'Recruitment Evening' on Wednesday 12th March 2008 at 8pm. This is open to anyone between the ages 14 and 18!

Are you aged between 14 and 18 years old and live in the South Manchester region?We are currently looking to gain some more members. As such we are holding a 'recruitment evening' on Wednesday 12th March 2008 at 8pm.
The evening is being held at 88th Manchester Scout Hut, School Lane, Didsbury, M20 6RG.
This evening is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the unit, there will be pizza and games, plus a talk by some of the current members on what it is like being an Explorer.
Last term we ran a very successful programme with highlights including a Burn's Night celebration, a Chip Shop Challenge and a visit to bowling. We also ran a highly adventurous Winter Camp in the Lake District.
Next term's programme will be equally as impressive and enjoyable! We are also planning a summer camp to Europe, yachting in North Wales, and a visit to London for the 'Monopoly Run'.

Religious Visit this Wednesday
Hello All,
This Wednesday we will be visiting Didsbury Mosque and Islamic Centre.
We will be receiving a guided tour, followed by a short presentation
about Islam.
In a multicultural society it is very important to value the religions
of others. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about one of
these religions. And not from your Religious Studies teacher, but from
someone who passionately believes in their religion.
We will meet at the hut at 8pm, and will travel to the Centre by car.
The visit is scheduled to last approximately 1 hour. Afterwards we will
return to the hut for approximately 8.45pm.
Please wear uniform, this is a public event and it is important to set
a good image of ourselves.

1st Annual Chip Shop Challenge
On the 6th February we held our 1st Annual Chip Shop Challenge to find the best chip shop in South Manchester.

About the Unit
The Viking unit serves the entire Manchester South District and is open to anyone aged 14 to 18 years of age.
The unit was orginally formed in January 2004. We orginally had 7 members all from the 88th Manchester Scout group. Over the last few years we have originally increased in size dramatically, but unfortunately now are lacking in numbers. We now have 6 members and we are in consant contact with many of the groups in the Manchester South District.
Where? When? How?
We meet on Wednesdays at 2000hr (8pm) at 88th Manchester Scout HQ "The Lodge" School Lane Didsbury.
Just turn up or e-mail the leaders.
