Sainsbury's Fundraising and Conker Evening!
Hello All,
Two pieces of information for you, and seen as the postal service is on
strike, email has come to the rescue!
Sainsbury's Fundraising
This week Sainsbury's in association with Scouting in the UK, are
opening their stores to Scout groups to promote scouting. So Manchester
South's District is no exception.
We will be bag packing at Sainsbury's in Fallowfield, as well as
handing out promotional leaflets and information. The explorers have
volunteered to help on Sunday, any time between 11am and 5pm.
Please try and make it to Sainsbury's, even if only for 1 hour, it all
counts! Also 60% of the money the explorers raise will be paid to the
explorers, the other 40% to the district. As well as it being a great
promotion for the Explorer unit.
Please attend in full uniform, and have fun!
Conker Evening
Next Wednesday we are holding a Conker evening, where we will be having
a Conker bashing tournament, so we need conkers! Please go on the prowl
for conkers, hire your sisters and brother, aunts and uncles, friends
and foes to get conkers! The more the better.
Please bring them down to Explorers on Wednesday. Safety gear will be
provided!

We are going climbing!
We are going Climbing!
When:
Wednesday 26th September (This Wednesday)
What time:
Meet at the hut at 6.45pm
We will return to the hut at 9.30pm
Cost?
The cost for climbing is approx. £7, if you like a drink as well, £10 is more appropriate.
What to wear?
Wear some practical, close fitting clothes, and a pair of trainers.
I think that is all. 
Subs are also due - £25 for the term, cheques
payable to 2nd Didsbury Scouts.

Boo... It's Us...
Well we are back!
After two life changing weeks at the Jamboree, and a action pack trip to Scotland the unit returns to normality after the summer.
Photos and reports from both events will be up soon!
We have planned a new programme, (click programme above to see it). It includes approximate costs and times!
Letters have been sent to all past and present unit members to invite you back, but if you would like to join just pop down on a Wednesday (check the programme first).
If you would like to organise/run one of the evenings, let us know!

About the Unit
The Viking unit serves the entire Manchester South District and is open to anyone aged 14 to 18 years of age.
The unit was orginally formed in January 2004. We orginally had 7 members all from the 88th Manchester Scout group. Over the last few years we have originally increased in size dramatically, but unfortunately now are lacking in numbers. We now have 6 members and we are in consant contact with many of the groups in the Manchester South District.
Where? When? How?
We meet on Wednesdays at 2000hr (8pm) at 88th Manchester Scout HQ "The Lodge" School Lane Didsbury.
Just turn up or e-mail the leaders.
Do come and join, and see what fun we have!
